What is the Wheel of Life?
The Wheel of Life is a widely used tool in personal development, helping individuals assess and balance different areas of their lives. It's a simple yet powerful way to gain clarity about where you're thriving and where you might want to focus more attention.
At its core, the Wheel of Life involves identifying key areas of your life—like career, health, relationships and personal growth—and rating your satisfaction in each on a scale from 1 to 10. These ratings are plotted on a circular chart to give you a visual snapshot of your balance.
This reflection alone can be transformative, helping you identify areas to focus on.

Why You Should Do It
Most of us go through life feeling overwhelmed or stuck without understanding why.
The Wheel of Life helps you see the bigger picture—where your life is balanced, and where it isn't. It's intuitive, visual and works pretty much for anyone.
Studies on self-awareness show that visualising your life in this way can significantly improve goal-setting and decision-making.
For me, it was an eye-opener to realise how much I was neglecting certain areas, like relationships and fun, while over-investing in work. Once I saw that clearly, I was able to take actionable steps to restore balance and ultimately end up more fulfilled and happy.
I see this happen repeatedly with many of my clients too. Some of my clients hesitate to do the exercise—thinking they already know where they stand or fearing it might limit their freedom. But once they complete it, they're often surprised by the clarity and empowerment it brings.
Beyond all those benefits, what I personally find most valuable and empowering about this exercise is that it highlights the areas where you're already thriving. It always leaves me feeling grateful for everything I've accomplished so far and makes me realise just how close I already am to my ideal end state.
