Misalignment Burnout

Misalignment burnout describes exhaustion that stems less from workload and more from a mismatch between what you do and what you value. You can work hard and still feel strangely empty because the ladder is against the wrong wall.

Even "reasonable" hours feel draining when tasks conflict with purpose, strengths or boundaries; conversely, aligned work can be demanding yet sustainable. Signals include chronic procrastination on "important" projects, demotivation, envy of others' paths or relief only when you step away.

Realignment starts with clarifying values and desired outcomes, pruning low-fit commitments and gradually increasing time spent on meaningful, strength-based work. Even small changes—like shifting one project per quarter—compound quickly.
