Body Doubling
Body doubling is an accountability technique where working alongside another person—physically or virtually—reduces friction to start and stay on task.
The light social presence increases focus and decreases avoidance, especially for tasks with emotional resistance or unclear scope.
Structure sessions with brief check-ins: share your intention, silent-work for a defined time box, then debrief. Video calls, shared timers or co-working spaces all work. Keep goals small to build momentum.
Used thoughtfully, body doubling is a catalyst, not a crutch. Pair it with good systems (clear next steps, single-tasking, and maintenance routines) so progress remains reliable without constant external pressure.
