Existential Fatigue
Existential fatigue is a form of weariness that comes less from workload itself and more from a lack of meaning, direction or inner coherence. It often appears when your life feels functional on the outside but disconnected on the inside.
Common signs include flat motivation, cynicism, emotional dullness and recurring thoughts like "Why bother?".
Rest may help somewhat, but it often does not resolve the deeper issue, because the problem is not only exhaustion, but misalignment.
The most effective response is usually not just doing less, but reconnecting with what matters. Clarifying your values, defining your ideal end state and making regular time for aligned, meaningful work can help reduce existential fatigue over time.
