Habit Pairing

Also known as: Temptation Bundling

Habit pairing describes linking a desired behavior to an immediately rewarding activity. For example, listen to a favorite podcast while running, or enjoy a premium coffee during paperwork.

The immediate reward makes starting easier and over time, the cue strengthens the desired habit.

Practical tip

Pair a cognitively demanding task with a physically demanding activity, like walking or cycling. Don't pair two cognitive tasks or else they'll end up interfering each other and you end up multitasking.
